Upgrading
If you've upgraded to v1.6 or later from an earlier version, you must re-authenticate your account, simply choose Accounts from the Window menu, select your account, and click the Account button.
Privacy settings
Unless otherwise specified your Default Flickr Photo Privacy settings will be used. You can control privacy on a picture-by-picture basis using the following special keywords:
- !Private
Visible to only you - !Public
Visible to everyone - !Friends
Visible to Friends (not Family or Public) - !Family
Visible to Family (not Friends or Public) - !Friends and !Family (add both keywords)
Visible to Friends and Family (not Public)
Unicode Characters
Flickr reads tags (and other annotations) from both those sent by PictureSync which will appear with the correct encoding, and those embedded in the file. However it does not understand embedded Unicode and therefore for each tag you will end up with a duplicate with incorrect encoding if it uses extended characters. You can solve this simply in PictureSync, In the Preferences under Annotations>Upload/Export, select 'Remove' and no embedded IPTC/XMP will be uploaded, EXIF will not be removed.
Synchronisation
PictureSync can update annotations for previously uploaded images that you've subsequently edited on your computer (e.g. in iPhoto).
To update images on Flickr simply open/import them back into PictureSync (they'll be shown as ‘Online’), then when you click upload PictureSync will not re-upload the full image again but will instead update (replace) the title, description, and tags. Privacy settings are also updated providing a special keyword is present, otherwise the existing online privacy options for an image will remain. To upload an image afresh see the FAQ.
You can also add previously uploaded images to other sets if you choose 'Upload To…' (they will not be removed from other sets they are in).
